MK8 is one of 45 elementary, middle and high schools participating in the No Place for Hate 2011-2012 initiative, an anti-bullying, tolerance program offered by the Anti-Defamation League to schools in Colorado and Wyoming, and fosters the appreciation of diversity and challenges prejudice in schools. It’s not odd for Monarch K-8 students to walk through the school’s hallways and hear their peers randomly say the word “ouch” - but it’s not said because a student is hurt, it’s an act of standing up for someone.
